Sakonji Urokodaki: Cosplay of 2019

There were a few plans made for cosplay of 2019 but all put into hiatus, surprisingly I end up making just one cosplay,  Urokodaki Sakonji of Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Funny how I originally wanted to cancel all my cosplans, rest up and buy appropriate tools before going back to cosplay/propmaking again.

2019 saw Kimetsu no Yaiba being one of the most hyped anime of the year. Every cosplayer Facebook feed is inundated with cosplay works and photography related to this anime. I didn’t have an interest to cosplay it, but my cosplay friend pulled me in earlier that year and made Otafuse 2019 as our main debut.

Thus began my hard work to finish the cosplay the best that I can. Even with the help of Cosplanner, my time management sucks that I have to make extra works at the eleventh hour. That is something I need to fix this year, COVID-19 pandemic (unfortunately, not in a good way) gave me a chance to deal with this.

My tools are damn simple, but it is also time consuming when the tools doesn’t match the materials I’m working on. So I always go maximum effort, and get exhausted by the end of the day just to do one task.

Didn’t make any Nichirin blade for Otafuse 2019, that was around September. I only finished the Nichirin blades by the time I got to Hobbycon 2019 on December.

These are the second and third Katana styled prop I made since 2018, there were slight improvements but I still need to master the way to make the scabbard/sheath perfect.

Make sure you check out the detailed WIPs uploaded to my cosplay page, RungiCosplay.

Photoshoot

In between the two events, our group had our very first outdoor photoshoot with professional photographer Vencent Thiam. That was my first photoshoot after a long time, tiring but fun and the results are spectactular!

You can check out the full photos, including all other cosplay photoshoots he had done on his Facebook profile, please check it out!

Urokodaki & friends

Finally, to end this blog entry, let me show you some of the pics and selfies taken during private event, Otafuse & Hobbycon 2019 cosplaying as Sakonji Urokodaki. Admittedly I was not at my best that year, but thanks to my cosplay friends, it was a worthwhile experience.

Thank you very much.

last but not least, because this week is also where the last chapter of Kimetsu No Yaiba manga published. I present to you, Rungitom version of Sakonji Urokodaki unmasked. 😛
