MalaysiaDay2010

Today marks the 47th year of the Malaysia Federation formation. Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak consented to form a new federation called Malaysia in September 16, 1963. This date is the true day where “Malaysia” was born, August 31, 1957 was Malaya Federation’s independence day from the British.

The Malaysian Federation was supposedly formed on August 31,1963 to coincide with Malaya’s independence day. But due to the late result of UN second referendum that made after Indonesia and Philipines intervention, the date was then set on September 16, 1963. Singapore later withdrawn from the federation in 1965.

It was just last year that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that September 16 will be a public holiday. So this year will be the first national holiday for September 16. Sabah will be the first host to celebrate Malaysia Day this year, the inaugural Malaysia Day celebration will be held at Padang Merdeka, Kota Kinabalu.

So lets us celebrate the day with joy and happiness, remember to keep up the very best in life and avoid sentiments that could break the country’s unity.
