Facebook addiction

Just a quick post, You should try it too 🙂

How Addicted to Facebook Are You?

Created by Oatmeal

I created my Facebook account like one year ago, the purpose was to migrate my Mafia Wars addiction from another social networking site, Tagged. Since the game system in Facebook was better, I closed down my Tagged account and began playing; not just Mafia Wars but also so many social games. My online friends added up was almost 2000, including my family and close friends; others are social gaming friends just like me.

As my life got busy, my addiction slowly recedes to a point that I think that these games are worthless. I began using Facebook in terms of promoting my blog and true online socializing. As I began to be an active Twitterer; I’ve done a massive unfriending to clear out the social gaming friends(sorry! it was fun playing with you guys)

I have like 400+ online friends right now, at least now it is more manageable than before. I can read their updates from time to time, socializing better than before.

I started tweeting actively a few months ago. Before that, my twitter account was in total abandonment. And since then, Facebook has been less interesting and less fun. Maybe I should do the same. Delete irrelevant friends. Bukan jahat but there's no point receiving newsfeed from people we don't know. Yang kita betul2 kenal tu pula yg kita terlepas pandang. So yeah. I want to make my FB a true social networking as well 🙂

That children are wasting lots of their time on FB. To make the matters worse, they can use their mobile phones for FB. They do not understand the consequences!

According to recent research by Ofcom, 37% of adults and 60% of teens admit to being ‘highly addicted’ to their smartphones, with users checking their smartphones on average, 34 times a day. Additionally, 51% of adults and 65% of teens use their smartphones while socializing with others, and 22% and 47% respectively, confess to answering their smartphones even while on the toilet.

So the International 'Moodoff Day’ is encouraging people around the world to avoid using smartphones for a few hours on February 26. The organization is urging adults and teenagers to spend from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. that day without using their smartphone. This events will celebrate each year on last Sunday of February.

if you feel you could benefit from a morning without smartphones and mobile devices and want to encourage others to follow suit, go to http://www.MoodOffDay.org and pledge your support. You can even post your personal experiences of smartphone addiction or upload funny images showing smartphone addicts in action at http://www.facebook.com/MoodOffDay .

Moodoff Day is aiming to raise awareness of smart phone addiction and to minimise the impact on relationships, work/life balance, reduce risk of injury in traffic and improve quality of life.
