Bonding With Gaya Street (BWGS), is a community-centred project for North Borneo culture, history and heritage. This event is organized by North Borneo History Enthusiasts(NBHE) with DBKK as its co-organizer, it will kick off this Friday, 10th February until Sunday, 12th February 2012.

This is a great event for the old generations to reminisce the great times of North Borneo era. For the young generations, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for them to learn and appreciate more about their own unique historical heritage. You may ask, why Gaya Street? And for that I share this, quoted from BWGS website

When it came to North Borneo’s almost obscure history, there are too many things to talk about. Hence, Gaya Street as a focal and starting point. Think of Kota Kinabalu as an atom and Gaya Street being its nucleus. Even in the old days, Jesselton’s evolution to what it is today started with Bond Street and its first row of 17 shophouses.

So, below are the schedule for the event, as well as band line up who will be performing for Together Again, Revolusi Tikar and The BAH-skers All-Day.

Music, story telling and a trip down memory lane is what you should go for this weekend. Bring your family and ask them if they remember their younger days in Sabah, North Borneo. Bring your camera, bring your video-cam and make sure you record this memorable event. Being a part of the organizing team, I doing as much as I can to help out. This weekend will be a bust day for me, but I hope our team will have fun.

Oh, I would love to share some photos I took behind the scenes, but I have no time right now. I put that one up after the event ends, I promise. 😉

Before you go, I share with you BWGS teaser trailers,

Not forgetting, musical teaser trailer from Orkes Akiuku, Sabahan Ukulele group. 🙂

What is YOUR story?

About North Borneo History Enthusiast (taken from BWGS website)

NBHE has its humble beginning in Facebook. It was founded on 7 May 2011. The motivation behind the forming of the group was to provide a platform for bonafide history enthusiasts to congregate online. In the internet, geographical distance becomes irrelevant. This platform enable enthusiasts to share and exchange knowledge and resources in the spirit of ‘gotong royong‘. Like the proverbial saying, two heads are better than one.

Our members consist of old and young, from a few of Sabah’s era, from all walks of live. Social standing is irrelevant to us, no one is too important to set aside some time and offer his/her knowledge. We all share a common passion i.e. Sabah’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

Our objective is to discover, preserve and propagate Sabah’s rich cultural and historical heritage with the slogan is Our History. Our Heritage!
